Never lose hope. Someone will come your way and when they do, you’d better be ready with your camera. You may want to consider turning to black and white by converting from colour. I converted these photos from colour using Nikon’s ViewNX 2 software, which came supplied with my Nikon D90.
Some tones convert better than others so it’s worth experimenting. Try to acheive a full range of tones in your image. The best black and white pictures contain a pure white and a pure black, plus a range of greys in between. A good starting exposure makes the process much easier. Be more dog and learn to visualize a colourless world. A well illuminated spot with a good amount of contrast will usually serve you well.
Your own creativity should always come first, but if you never have a path to follow you will never learn to deviate from that path. Have fun experimenting!
