And So To Street.

And So To Street

And So To Street 2
Sunday felt windstill and mild. Low cloud hung above the rooftops of this seaside town producing a soft light. By late afternoon day-trippers began making their excuses to leave. Their exit left only the locals outside bars and cafes to debate what was, and screeching seagulls swept downwards in to the empty spaces.

When Josie Comes Home.

When Josie Comes Home
“When Josie comes home
So good
She’s the pride of the neighborhood
She’s the raw flame
The live wire
She prays like a Roman
With her eyes on fire”

I Saw Her Standing There.

I Saw Her Standing There (2)
Photographing strangers for this blog relies on only one percent skill, but ninety-nine percent chance. It’s all about chance, taking chances, and never knowing who will be where at any given time. The girl in the photo was held at a road crossing by a red light when I spoke with her. She removed one of her ear buds to listen to what I had to say.

I could have worked some magic and removed the remaining wires when processing these afterwards, but I decided to keep them showing. They were invisible to me when I was composing this shot and I wonder if she had also forgotten they were there. Sometimes you forget when things happen so quickly.

Style on Two Wheels.

Amsterdam-Bicycle- Amsterdam-Bicycle-2 Amsterdam-Bicycle-3 Amsterdam-Bicycle-4Before moving closer to my subjects to make this blog, I trained my camera on passing cyclists dressed in stylish clothes for a couple of years. The most stylish of cyclists were found in Continental Europe. Closer to home I became disillusioned at the low turnout of people that would bother to cycle. The style count was also low.

Many cyclists here today insist on dressing like a steeplejack or deep sea diver before getting on a bicycle, blaming the lack of cycling infrastructure and poor safety. I eventually ended that blog and began this one, photographing people without bicycles. I have chosen a few of the best examples from those times to show you.
